My Creative Journey – Week 8

Hello, Welcome to a new year…2019 where has the time gone? This week we are going to explore MY signature style – Dark & Moody. My first love with Still Life and to be honest…it still is. It is what I am known for and I usually end up teaching in my Workshops, as it…

The last Hydrangea of the season…

On a recent exploration of some wonderful gardens, looking for spectacular Autumn colour I came across these wonderful Hydrangea, dried and almost devoid of colour and they were still spectacular! I could not help but take a few pics, very late in the season for them, but still just hanging on. ~Julz

Single White Lily

I have a single white lily in the pond out in the back yard…..I didn’t have the heart to cut it down, so I went looking for some I did a little while ago, same plant. Such a fabulous plant, so soft, yet structural at the same time. I often get dozen’s of blooms of…

Mother’s Day Flowers

My Daughter bought me these lovely flowers for Mother’s Day, I couldn’t resist taking a few flowers. The light was poor in the late afternoon light, hence the dark and moody toning. I feel the bright orange Gerberas can cope well with it. ~ Julz

Dark and Moody…Orchids

Hello Friends – Happy Monday, I so adored the dark and moody magnolia and hyacinth I did last week, I wanted to do some more, this time with a stunning purple orchid. Wouldn’t these be divine as prints on a dinning room or lounge room wall? ~ Julz, xo

Hyacinth beauties…

Still in a dark and moody flower frame of mind and took these shots of these great hyacinths, I don’t think I have really looked at them before, quite a striking plant. I Couldn’t help but turn some into art! Have a great day. ~ Julz

Time for a little more dark and Moody…

Can’t hide from the fact that I love a little dark and moody, fruit, flowers and conceptual art as well. I was watching an online tutorial featuring some still life by Sherri Reed, so lovely, heavily inspired I decided to create my own version…with a few creative tweaks of course Til next time, I hope…

Autumn Toadstools…

Hello again, it truly is Autumn when the toadstools start showing up. This year there have been so many reports of them all over Melbourne. ~ Julz, xo

Quail Eggs #2

Yesterday I wrote a post using this month’s #Spark #Single, today I thought I would share some of the other shots from that shoot… All shot with the 35mm Primes lens in natural light, but shot in the shade; ISO100, F/2.8. 1/200 second shutter speed. ~ Julz

Spark – Single #2

Back again with another single shot #Spark, this time with a quail egg………very high contrast and moodiness on this one, it’s also quite grainy….not my usual offering for Still Life, I usually prefer more clarity and sharpness in my images. Also a fair bit of negative space……….just to mix things up ~ Julz

Hidden Treasures…

Recently we visited Montsalvat, not much has changed since it was built in the 1930’s just run down enough to be interesting and just restored enough to keep all it’s charm. Just wandering around the estate it’s easy to miss the little things, details that make it unique. Yes there is wonderful old architecture and…
